Getting Around

Much of the Border remains very rural today with limited public transport links. The best way to see the countryside is by car. There are train links between Edinburgh, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Carlisle and the Borders railway between Edinburgh and Tweedbank re-opened for the first time since 1969 in September 2015. There are plenty of local bus links but it is best to check in advance of your journey for times and destinations. If you are flying in, then the airports at Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle are best placed for a visit.
